Study of Prophecy

What distinguishes Christianity from all other religions? To put it another way, what should our Christian response be to the question, "Why are you so sure that your faith is the real one?" The answer is that ours is the only faith firmly rooted in provable fact. The reason that it is provable is because of prophecy. No other religious writers besides the Biblical authors were audacious enough to predict future events, because no other religion could have done so with accuracy. The prophetic writings in the Bible are detailed, accurate, and specific, and enough have been seen to come true to prove that the God of the Bible is truly the Author of history.

It is therefore essential for Christians to understand prophecy, not as the writings of long-dead men, but as proofs of the Living God.

This series is currently being taught on Sunday nights at 6:00 pm. It began in February 2009.

• These lessons were taught using a teaching method based on "gestalt theory". This means that you may find a large amount of repetition between lessons, the theory being that repetition increases true learning and memory. Keep in mind that the original listeners were hearing lessons a week apart rather than one after the other. For those listening at home, if this repetition becomes frustrating, you may wish to skip ahead a few lessons at a time. Note that this is not to say that you won't find value in listening to every lesson, because no lesson is completely repeated - there is always something new to be heard.
• The lessons are taught using a "Question and Answer" format, so there may be long silences when congregation members were answering questions. Very little attempt has been made to edit out these silences.
